(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - On the occasion of the death Anniversary of Martyr Ayatollah Morteza Motahhari, four Indian scholars were honored by “4th Shaheed Motahhari Award”, on Monday evening in New Delhi.
Hoj Maulana Fitrat Sahab, a shia religious scholar from Pune, Maulana Prof Farman Hussain, another shia religious scholar from Aligarh, Dr. Khusro Qasim, Academician of Aligarh Muslim University and Maulana Mohd Rafeeq Qasmi from Delhi, bagged the prestigious award, presented jointly by the eminent personalities, at a glittering ceremony, organized by Iran Culture House in New Delhi, yesterday evening.
Present on the occasion were representative of Velayat-e Faqih in India, Hoj. Mehdi Mahdavi Pour, Dy Director Int’l Cultural Relations, Hoj Mehdi Emanipour, Iran Ambassador to India, Syed Mehdi Nabizadeh, Cultural Counsellor, Dr. Karim Najafi, Vice President of All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), Dr. Kalbe Sadiq and Director Iran Culture House, Ali Deghai.
Beside the eminent scholars, students and distinguished guests, also witnessed the award ceremony.
Earlier, the messages of Dr. Mohd Baqer Khurramshaw, Director Int’l Cultural Relations, was read by Dr. Karim Najafi.
Expressing their gratitude over the “4th Shaheed Motahhari Award” bestowed upon Indian scholars in recognition of sacrilege works on Islamic studies, they in one voice said that this award in Motahhari’s name will encourage younger scholars to continue this tradition and help enlighten Islamic values which will be beneficial for the humanity around the globe.
They stressed the need to continue the genuine and profound movement of Martyr Motahhari, which is of great assistance to intellectuals because of its scholarly critique of foreign ideas.
They also extended the greetings to the awardees and the organizers.
Ayatollah Morteza Motahari, born in 1920 in Iran, was one of the most versatile Islamic scholars and prolific writers of recent times, deeply rooted in traditional learning and enamoured of its exponents. He was an Islamic thinker who had fully absorbed a rigorous philosophical training. Much of his work has been published in and outside Iran. In a short span of time he authored over 100 books.
